Parents and children
It is important to enter the child care expenses paid for a dependant into that dependant’s specific profile.
Enter the duration of the special case situation using the profile of the person with the highest net income.

- Click the dependant’s sub-tab
- Click Child care in the left-side menu

Child care was automatically generated in the left-side menu because of the year of birth that was entered on the Dependant ID page.
- Click the + sign next to the type of child care expenses you want to add for this child

For example, if you selected Babysitter:
- Enter the appropriate child care expense information into the fields
- If you have several receipts for the same child, click the back arrow between the Previous and Next buttons to return to the screen where you can choose the type of child care expenses you want to add for this child
- Click Next
UFile tip
The software automatically reduces the maximum amount that can be claimed for some child care expenses if they exceed the government-set limit.
In the case of a couple, UFile will claim the expenses in the tax return of the person with the lower net income, unless a special case exists.

- Tick the box next to Child care (special cases) in the Parents and children section
