Business Registration Online – What you can do
Effective October 21, 2024, if you need to register for or update an import-export (RM) program account, go to the Canada Border Services Agency's CARM: Assess and pay duties and taxes on imported commercial goods. To learn more, go to Getting or making changes to a nine-digit business number for importing and exporting.
1. What you can do
You can use Business Registration Online (BRO) to:
- get a business number (BN)
- register for some types of program account
- link to other business online registries for some provincial programs, such as Ontario and Nova Scotia
If you want to register as a non-resident business, go to Non-Resident Business Number and Account Registration Web Form.
Canada Revenue Agency program accounts you can register for using BRO
If you have a BN, you can use BRO to register for program accounts. If you just received a BN and are in BRO, without leaving, you can register for the following types of program accounts:
- GST/HST
- payroll deductions
- corporation income tax
- registered charity
- information returns
- luxury tax
- underused housing tax
For information about other Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) program accounts that are not found in BRO, go to Other CRA program accounts.
BRO and provincial partners
After getting your BN and registering for CRA program accounts through BRO, you can transfer to one of the provinces listed below.
Before you click the "Transfer to provincial site" button, make sure you have registered for all the program accounts you need because your session in BRO will end once you connect to one of the provinces.
