Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS)
As a business, charity, or non-profit in Canada who was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic between September 27, 2020, and October 23, 2021, you may have been eligible for the CERS.
The last CERS claim period was period 14 (September 26 to October 23, 2021). The deadline to apply for CERS claim period 14 was April 21, 2022.
Current COVID-19 rent subsidies for business
Beginning October 24, 2021, the CERS and Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) were replaced with two new programs, each offering rent and wage support:
- the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program (THRP)
- the Hardest-Hit Business Recovery Program (HHBRP)
There are no claim periods for the wage and rent subsidies after May 7, 2022. However, you can still apply for open claim periods of the THRP, HHBRP, and Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) until their deadlines have passed:
