Cancel or waive penalties and interest at the CRA
Processing delays
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is receiving a higher-than-normal number of requests. The average processing time is currently fourteen (14) months. Actual response times may vary, as some cases may require more or less time for review. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work diligently to process your request. For further details, go to Check CRA processing times.
When events beyond your control prevent you from meeting your tax obligations, the CRA may grant relief of penalties and interest.
Try our new self-evaluation and learning tool (SELT), to determine if you should apply for relief from penalties and interest.
