Free tax clinic statistics by province/territory for 2022

The following table provides statistics for free tax clinics hosted through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) and the Income Tax Assistance - Volunteer Program (ITAVP) in Quebec, during the 2022 calendar year (January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022). The numbers are shown by province/territory and provide:

  • community organizations
  • volunteers
  • individuals helped
  • returns filed
  • refund, credit and benefit entitlements

The amounts apply to current and prior-year income tax and benefit returns filed through the program. As the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) receives more information, the data may change.

The listed province/territory is where the individual was a resident on December 31, 2022, as reported on their return. An individual can have multiple returns (current and previous years) filed under more than one province or territory. Provincial/territorial totals will not add up to national totals. This is because national totals include counts for those whose province/territory of residence could not be identified when the data was gathered.

180,400 individuals had their provincial return completed and 166,090 had at least one federal return completed through the program. Since the provincial data has not been verified by the CRA, it isn’t known how many of these individuals filed both their provincial and federal returns.
