Outreach activities for organizations

COVID-19 update:

We’re encouraging community organizations to follow guidance from public health authorities at the local, provincial, and national levels when planning your events.

We’re also asking all employees to avoid any work-related events with a large number of attendees and to reconsider unnecessary travels. Therefore, CRA employees will no longer be able to attend scheduled in-person outreach activities.

Outreach officers are available to help you by phone. Please let us know if you’d like to make arrangements for a presentation by phone by completing the online form.

Tax filing season has been extended from April 30 to June 1, 2020. We hope this will give community organizations the opportunity to reschedule events before the June 1 deadline.

We understand that this service is important to your community and we apologize for any inconvenience. To learn more about other ways to file your taxes, go to our Find a way to file your taxes.

If your organization provides services to vulnerable populations in Canada, the Benefits Outreach Program at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) can help. We offer in-person visits all across Canada to help organizations educate their clients about the benefits and credits they may be entitled to.

You can request an in-person visit by filing out the online form.

Support for vulnerable populations in Canada

We can visit your organization if your clients are:

  • Indigenous peoples
  • newcomers to Canada
  • refugees
  • seniors
  • students and youth
  • persons with disabilities
  • housing-insecure or homeless individuals
  • modest-income Canadians
  • people staying in a shelter

In-person visits to raise awareness of benefits and credits

Outreach officers from the CRA work across Canada hosting in-person interactive information sessions and distributing informational products to raise awareness of the benefits and credits that individuals could receive when they file their taxes.
The CRA's outreach officers can:

  • visit your organization to host an information session for your employees or clients
  • display a booth or deliver a presentation at an event you are organizing
  • provide products tailored to the individuals you serve
  • direct your clients on how to access that benefits and credits that they are entitled to

Request a visit by an outreach officer

If you are interested in having an outreach officer attend your event, choose your province or territory from the drop‑down menu below, fill out the online form, and submit it to the CRA. Someone from one of our regional offices will contact you to arrange an information session tailored to your clients' needs.

Host a free tax clinic at your organization

If your clients have a modest income and a simple tax situation, they may be able to get their tax return done for free through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. Filing a tax return is an important step in receiving and continuing to receive the benefits and credits that your clients may be entitled to.

Register your organization to host a free tax clinic.
