Info Source

Info Source is a publication that provides information about the functions, programs, activities and related information holdings of the Canada Revenue Agency and all other federal government institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Reading Rooms

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has reading rooms across the country where the public can make an appointment to view copies of CRA manuals.

To request an electronic copy of a CRA reading room manual, please contact the Access to Information and Privacy Directorate by phone at 1-866-333-5402 or send an email to ATIP General Enquiries.

Is everything in the Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) holdings accessible?

The legislation carefully balances the public's right to know against the government's legitimate needs to keep some information secret. Major exceptions to the right of access include Cabinet documents and information which, if released, could be injurious to matters of national security, public safety and the privacy rights of individuals. The CRA is also required to protect taxpayer information in accordance with the confidentiality requirements of the Income Tax Act and the Excise Tax Act.
