Area A – Calculation of capital cost allowance (CCA) claim

To calculate your current-year deduction for CCA, and any recaptured CCA and terminal losses, use Area A on form T2125, Statement of Business or Professional Activities.

You might need information to complete Area A for the current year from your form T2125 of last year.

You may have acquired or disposed of buildings or equipment during your fiscal period. If so, fill in Area B – Equipment additions in the year, Area C – Building additions in the year, Area D – Equipment dispositions in the year, or Area E – Building dispositions in the year, whichever applies, before completing Area A.

You may have acquired or disposed of land during the current tax year. If so, complete Area F – Land additions and dispositions in the year.

For an explanation on how to complete Area B and Area C, go to Column 3 – Cost of additions in the year. For an explanation on how to complete Area D and Area E, go to Column 5 – Proceeds of dispositions in the year.

Note

Even if you are not claiming a deduction for CCA for the current tax year, fill in the appropriate areas of the form to show any additions or dispositions during the year.
