Message from the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue: COVID-19 – April 14, 2020

Hello everyone,

It's been almost a month since we started living in a restricted world. During these historic times, you are among those who are helping the country move forward, and I thank you for your exceptional work. I want to acknowledge the enthusiasm with which you responded to our call for help in the call centres. There were over 7,000 of you who volunteered. As I often say, it's when the storm starts that you recognize a good sailor.

Since we launched the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit, more than 5.38 million Canadians have received it. We have gotten many comments about how simple, quick and easy the process was, and of course, it's all thanks to you! I know that many of you are already working on the Emergency Wage Subsidy, another measure that the Agency will implement. Let's keep going!

I also want to urge you to double down on your efforts to follow all prescribed health precautions to stop the spread of COVID-19. We are all accountable to each other. Wash your hands, practice social distancing, stay home, and only go out if absolutely necessary.

Lastly, I want to share some resources to help you take care of your well-being, and that of your loved ones. The Government of Canada's Centre of Expertise on Mental Health in the Workplace has developed these Mental Health Tips for Working at Home that you may find helpful. And remember, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is there for you and your family. Feel free to contact the EAP to discuss your situation and challenges.

Despite the distance, I think about you a lot. Thank you for everything. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, P.C., M.P.
Minister of National Revenue
