On March 15, 2025, the Government of Canada stopped the federal fuel charge and the Canada Carbon Rebate for individuals.

There will be no further quarterly CCR payments after the April 2025 payment.

If you were eligible to receive the CCR for the month of April 2025 and if you filed your 2024 income tax and benefit return electronically after April 2, 2025

You will receive your final payment once your 2024 return is assessed.

If you were eligible for the CCR but have not yet filed your tax returns for 2024, 2023, 2022, or 2021

You will receive your payment for the applicable base year once your tax return for that year has been assessed.

The CCR included a supplement for residents of small and rural communities. To claim the rural supplement you must have ticked the box on page 2 of your income tax and benefit return.

As the rural supplement was already included in the basic amount for Prince Edward Island, individuals from that province didn't have to claim it on their tax return.

If you get your tax refund by direct deposit, you would also get your CCR by direct deposit. For more information and ways to enroll for direct deposit, go to Direct deposit – Canada Revenue Agency.

If you are registered for direct deposit, you would see these payments in your bank account as "Canada Carbon Rebate", formerly shown as "Climate Action Incentive" (note: wording may vary based on financial institution and the new name may not immediately be reflected).
