Debt collection at the CRA

Call us if you can't pay in full or on time –Debt collection at the CRA

You may be looking for: Arrange to pay your debt over time

We understand that people and businesses sometimes find themselves in situations where they are unable to pay their taxes or other debts in full right away.

Call us to see if you may be able to:

  • Delay a payment to a later date
  • Start or change a payment arrangement
  • Reduce interest and penalties
  • Find other ways to reduce or resolve your debt

If you received a letter from a collections officer, call the number provided as soon as possible.

Before you call

When you call, you will need to have your:

  • Social Insurance Number or business number
  • Full name and date of birth or business name
  • Complete personal or business address
  • Assessed return, notice of assessment or reassessment, other notices or tax documents, or be signed in to My Account or My Business Account
