Eligibility changes for claim periods 24 to 26 Updated: March 28, 2022
For claim periods 24 to 26 (claims that cover December 19, 2021, to March 12, 2022), access to the subsidies has been expanded to include businesses that were subject to certain capacity-limiting public health restrictions.
For these three claim periods, you may qualify for the THRP if you meet the following two conditions:
- You were subject to a qualifying public health restriction or qualifying partial (capacity-limiting) public health restriction
- You have a claim period revenue drop of at least 25%

CERS replaced by THRP and HHBRP
The Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) ended effective October 23, 2021, and was replaced by 2 new programs.
You may no longer apply for the CERS. Updated: April 22, 2022
Starting on October 24, 2021, you may qualify for rent and property expenses support through the:
- Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program (THRP) or the
- Hardest-Hit Business Recovery Program (HHBRP)
If you are subject to a qualifying public health restriction, you may be eligible for support through the THRP even if you are not a qualifying tourism or hospitality entity.

Many of the THRP and HHBRP rules about who can apply, which rent and property expenses you can include, and how to calculate the subsidy are the same as they were for the CERS.
The THRP and the HHBRP also include a wage subsidy
If you are eligible to apply for both a rent subsidy and a wage subsidy, you must apply for them separately.
