All the information you need to calculate your Alberta tax and credits is included in the Completing your Alberta forms. Complete Form AB428, Alberta Tax and Credits, and attach a copy to your return.

What's new for 2008?

The provincial non-refundable tax credits have increased.

The amount for infirm dependants and the caregiver amount have increased to $9,355.

The disability amount has increased to $12,466. The supplement to the disability amount has increased to $9,355.

The rates for calculating the dividend tax credit have changed.

Form AB428, Alberta Tax and Credits, reflects these changes.

Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit

The Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit is a non-taxable amount for low and modest income families with working income that have children under 18 years of age.

For details on the payment amounts, see Pamphlet T4114, Canada Child Benefits.

There is no need to apply separately to get payments under this program. We will use the information from your Canada Child Benefits application to determine your eligibility for the program.

File your tax return - You (and your spouse or common-law partner) should file your 2008 tax return(s) as soon as possible. The information you give on your return(s) will determine how much you will get starting in July 2009.

This program is fully funded by the Province of Alberta. Payments are issued separately from the Canada Child Tax Benefit. For more information, call 1-800-959-2809 .
