What's new for 2009?

The income levels and some of the non-refundable tax credits used to calculate your Manitoba income tax have changed.

The rate used to calculate provincial income tax has changed for taxable income of $31,000 or less.

The rate used to calculate the dividend tax credit on other than eligible dividends has changed.

The rate used to calculate the mineral exploration tax credit has changed.

There is a new Primary Caregiver refundable tax credit for Manitoba residents who provide ongoing voluntary care to their spouse or common-law partner, relatives, neighbours, or friends who have been assessed under the guidelines of the Manitoba Home Care Program, as requiring care at level 2 or higher.

The green energy equipment tax credit has been expanded to include equipment that produces solar energy.

Form MB428, Manitoba Tax, Form MB479, Manitoba Credits, and Form T1241, Manitoba Mineral Exploration Tax Credit, reflect these changes.
