Newfoundland harmonized sales tax credit
The Newfoundland harmonized sales tax credit (NHSTC) is a tax-free payment to help people with low incomes who may be affected by the harmonized sales tax (HST). The credit will be combined with the October payment of the federal GST/HST credit.
There is no need to apply separately to receive the NHSTC. We will calculate the amount of any credit you may be entitled to receive based on the information you (and your spouse) give on your return(s). The NHSTC is funded entirely by the Province of Newfoundland.
