The proposed increase to the provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) in Newfoundland and Labrador, which was to take effect on January 1, 2016, has been cancelled. As a result, the HST rate in Newfoundland and Labrador will remain at 13% after December 31, 2015.
On December 14, 2015, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador issued a Tax Information Bulletin announcing the cancellation.
