Consultation sessions

The Registered Plans Directorate organizes and participates in consultation sessions with representatives from the following industries:

  • registered pension plans (RPP);
  • registered retirement savings plans (RRSP) and /registered retirement investment funds (RRIF) (in conjunction with the Individual Returns and Payments Processing Directorate); and
  • registered education savings plans (RESP) (in conjunction with Human Resources and Social Development Canada).

The sessions provide opportunities for clients and government representatives to share and discuss concerns and issues that have arisen since the last session. In addition, technical questions submitted by clients are formally responded to and published as part of the minutes of the meetings.

The Registered Plans Directorate held a registered pension plan practitioners' forum in Ottawa on June 3, 2008. A summary of the meeting is now available.

A practitioners' forum for specialty products was held on October 8, 2008, in Ottawa. This meeting was aimed at officials of banks, trust companies and insurance companies selling retirement savings plans and retirement income fund products, as well as promoters and trustees of education savings plans. The invitation was also extended to prospective issuers of disability savings plans and Tax-Free savings accounts. A summary of the meeting is now available.

A practitioners' forum for registered pension plans was held on June 2, 2009, in Ottawa. This meeting was aimed at pension consultants, actuaries and other members of the pension industry. A summary of the meeting is now available.
