Frequently asked questions - How can I review and update my account information?

1. How can I change my registration information online?
To change your registration information online:

  1. log in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. select "Review and update";
  3. select "View and update my registration information," and follow the instructions.

2. I forgot/lost my RepID. Do I need to register for another one?
No. You can view your RepID online by:

  1. logging in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. selecting "Review and update"; and
  3. selecting "View and update my registration information."

3. How do I change my business name?
First, you need to update your business name in our BN database. You can log in to My Business Account and select "Manage operating names" to add, remove, or change an operating name, or you can call 1-800-959-5525.

Second, you need to update your business name within the Represent a Client service by:

  1. logging in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. selecting "Review and update";
  3. selecting the "Business information" tab;
  4. selecting "Business registration" to bring up the first registration screen; and
  5. selecting your updated name from a list provided by our BN database.

Follow the instructions and, once you’re done, your clients will see your new name.

4. How can I view my client list?
To view your client list:

  1. log in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. select "Review and update"; and
  3. select one of the following to view your client list:
    1. For individual clients, select "Taxpayers who have authorized this business."
    2. For business clients, select "Businesses that have authorized this business."

5. Can I view the list of employee representatives and/or administrators associated to my business?
Yes. If you are the owner of the business or an administrator, you can view the list of employees associated to your business as representatives or administrators, or both, by:

  1. logging in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. selecting "Review and update";
  3. selecting "Manage employees’ access"; and
  4. selecting "Employee lists."

6. Can I cancel or suspend my business from the Represent a Client service?
Yes. To suspend or cancel your business registration from the Represent a Client service:

  1. log in with your CRA user ID and password;
  2. select "Review and update";
  3. select your business number;
  4. select "Business information"; and
  5. select "Suspend your business from this service" or "Cancel your business from this service," whichever is appropriate, and follow the instructions.
