New Brunswick small business investor tax credit
You can claim a tax credit for investments in eligible small businesses in New Brunswick.
The non-refundable credit equals 15% of the amount you invested to an annual maximum of $75,000 (for investment of up to $500,000).
You can carry back an unused credit to the three previous tax years ending after 2013. You can also carry forward the unused credit to the seven following tax years.
The province of New Brunswick will issue a certificate for qualifying investments.
Claiming the credit
File a completed Schedule 367, New Brunswick Small Business Investor Tax Credit, with your return. For more details, see the schedule.
On line 578 of Schedule 5, Tax Calculation Supplementary – Corporations, enter the amount of the credit you are claiming.
Supporting documents – If you file your return electronically, keep your certificate in case we ask for it later. Otherwise, file it with your paper T2 return.
