One-stop registration for federal and provincial business programs

Improved client service

During a single computer session, businesses can now register online for selected programs under both Service New Brunswick (SNB) and the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). This significantly reduces the time and effort needed to start or expand a business. Integrated online registration eliminates the need for businesses to provide different levels of government with the same information.

Partnership

The CCRA and SNB are collaborating to provide integrated registration services to their common business clients. Both levels of government are committed to improving client service, increasing efficiency, and reducing administrative costs. They are also committed to respecting privacy, confidentiality, and the rights of the business community, regardless of how information is transmitted or received.

New Brunswick has adopted the Business Number (BN) as a common business identifier for sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, and other business entities in the province. A BN will be provided to businesses that register with Corporate Affairs through the SNB Internet site or with a regular paper application. Over the coming months, the New Brunswick government will continue to phase in the use of the BN with other New Brunswick provincial departments and agencies.

Programs

By visiting www.businessregistration.gc.ca, businesses can register for both a New Brunswick business name for a sole proprietor and for the following CCRA business programs:

  • goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax account
  • corporate income tax account
  • payroll deductions account
  • import/export account

From this site, users can also register or apply for selected Nova Scotia and Ontario business programs.
