Saskatoon man fined $5,000 for failure to file tax returns
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, July 23, 2015... The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced today that Frank Clendenan of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was found guilty regarding the charges of failure to file his goods and services tax (GST) returns for 2008 to 2012. Mr. Clendenan was also found guilty for failure to appear.
The Court fined Mr. Clendenan $1,000 for each of the missing GST returns, $500 for the failure to appear conviction as well as a $150 victim surcharge for a total combined fine of $5,650.
The court ordered the GST returns to be filed By August 30, 2015.
Mr. Clendenan has two years to pay the fines.

When individuals are convicted of failing to file tax returns, in addition to any fines imposed by the courts, they must still file the returns and pay the full amount of taxes owing, plus interest owed, as well as any civil penalties that may be assessed by the CRA.
