Liaison Officer Assistance Requests – Pilot Project
If you operate a small business, the Liaison Officer Initiative (LOI) can help you meet your tax obligations by providing in-person support and guidance.
Building on the success of the LOI, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is now piloting Liaison Officer Assistance Request (LOAR) services in the greater Toronto and Montréal areas.
These services are designed to help you avoid common tax errors. This means you’ll spend less time, effort and money to figure out your tax obligations and entitlements.
LOAR services include:
- in-person support visits to address tax-related questions and concerns, discuss common income tax errors and financial benchmarks in the small business community and provide information on various tools and services the CRA offers.*
- in-person support visits for voluntary reviews of books and records to provide a basic evaluation of your business’s tax records and to recommend ways of strengthening your bookkeeping system.*
- seminars for the small business community to explain common tax errors, general bookkeeping concepts and how to use financial benchmarks for your respective industries, as well as to provide information on CRA’s services.
*Not every business will qualify for an in-person visit. If yours doesn’t, you may be able to attend an LOI seminar.
