Conclusion by the Commissioner

Since the creation of the CCRA in November 1999, our organization has made real strides in transforming the service we provide to Canadians and improving our internal operations. Indeed, our first full year as an agency represents a significant and successful undertaking. The people at the CCRA can take great satisfaction in the work that has already been accomplished.
With this year's Corporate Business Plan, the Honourable Martin Cauchon has set a strategic course for the next three years. The Minister's continuing leadership will ensure that we stay on course and achieve concrete results for Canadians. The Board of Management is also making a vital contribution to the CCRA with its oversight of management policies that govern agency resources, property, personnel, and contracts. The Board is helping to sharpen our focus on the needs of Canadians, by bringing the perspectives of client groups directly into the planning process.
Successfully transforming the CCRA depends, in very large part, on the people inside our organization. I am grateful to my colleagues on the Agency Management Committee for their engagement in putting our ambitious plan into motion. I am also particularly proud of our front-line staff -- the people in our 750 sites across Canada -- for serving Canadians daily and for making change happen. We have a dynamic and energetic team with a demonstrated commitment to building a better workplace.
This plan is the CCRA's roadmap for the next three years. We will aggressively pursue the process of business transformation, within the stable funding base established as a result of a comprehensive resource and management review. In the coming months, we will seek the views of our staff and clients on business transformation in key service areas. We will use staff and client input to develop a clear service vision that will guide the evolution of our programs over a five-year horizon.
I invite employees, clients, and partners to read the Summary of the Corporate Business Plan. I have every confidence that, in sharing ideas and working together, we will achieve the exceptionally high standards that we have set for service delivery and management excellence.
