All the forms you need to calculate your federal tax are included in the following pages. We have included two copies of the General Income Tax and Benefit Return and the related schedules, and they are also available on the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (formerly Revenue Canada) web site at: www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/1999-T1package/ .
Complete the schedules that apply to you, and attach a copy to your return.
You must complete a Quebec provincial return to calculate your provincial tax.
The Quebec Family Allowance
The Quebec family allowance is a non-taxable monthly payment intended specifically for low-income families in Quebec. It is calculated on the basis of family income for the preceding year, the number of children (under 18 years of age), and family type (single-parent or two-parent).
For all births, adoptions, and changes of custody (excluding government departments, agencies, or institutions), you have to complete the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency's Form RC66, Canada Child Tax Benefit Application. Whether or not you are entitled to the Canada Child Tax Benefit, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency will automatically send the Régie des rentes du Québec all the information needed to register your children for the Quebec family allowance.
