ARCHIVED - 5005-PC Information Sheet for Residents of Quebec

All the forms you need to calculate your federal tax are included in the following pages. We have included two copies of the General Income Tax and Benefit Return and Schedules 1 to 11. Complete the schedules that apply to you, and attach a copy to your return.

You must complete a Quebec provincial return to calculate your provincial tax.

The Quebec family allowance

Since September 1, 1997, the family allowance, the allowance for young children, and the portion of the income security (welfare) benefit allotted for the basic needs of children has been replaced by a new family allowance. The allowance varies according to family income, composition, and the number of children.

For all new births, adoptions, and changes of custody (excluding government departments, agencies, or institutions), you must complete Revenue Canada's Application for a Child Tax Benefit. Whether or not you are entitled to the federal child tax benefit, Revenue Canada will automatically send the Régie des rentes du Québec all the information needed to register your children.
