Newfoundland Harmonized Sales Tax Credit

The Newfoundland Harmonized Sales Tax Credit (NHSTC) is a tax-free payment made each October intended to help people with low incomes who may be affected by the Harmonized Sales Tax. The program, which is an initiative of, and is fully funded by, the province of Newfoundland, is administered on the province's behalf by Revenue Canada.

There is no need to apply separately to receive the NHSTC. The amount of any Newfoundland HSTC you may be entitled to receive will be calculated automatically based on the information you (and your spouse) submit on your income tax return(s).
