RC341 Election on Transitional Prohibited Investment Benefit for RRSPs or RRIFs
Notice to the reader
The Department of Finance has said that it is recommending that the June 30, 2012 deadline to file a Form RC341, Election on Transitional Prohibited Investment Benefit for RRSPs or RRIFs, be extended to March 1, 2013.
If you file Form RC341 by March 1, 2013, the Department of Finance has advised that it will be recommending an extension to the time period for withdrawing an amount equal to the transitional prohibited investment benefit from your RRSP or RRIF. Under current legislation, this amount must be withdrawn from your RRSP or RRIF within 90 days after the tax year in which the income or gains are earned or realized. Under the recommended changes, the benefit must be withdrawn by that date or April 2, 2013, whichever is later.
