Board of Management Oversight Framework - Assessment of Performance
The Board of Management is responsible for oversight of the organization and administration of the CRA. Specifically, the Board oversees how the Agency manages its resources, services, property, personnel, and contracts. To help fulfill this oversight role, and assess the performance of the Agency, Directors review a semi-annual status report on the strategic deliverables from the summary of the Corporate Business Plan. The Board also has a detailed quarterly dashboard which tracks key performance indicators for the Board and its Committees. This includes assessing, and reporting to the Board, the:
- overall financial health and performance of the Agency;
- CRA’s implementation of recommendations from external audits as well as the effectiveness and timeliness of its internal audit program;
- efforts to ensure that workforce recruitment, retention, and training respond to the needs of the Agency;
- stability of the CRA’s major IT systems, its cybersecurity posture, and its readiness to adopt emerging technologies;
- robustness of the privacy management program to protect personal information;
- progress made by the CRA on its service transformation; and,
- soundness of the Board’s corporate governance practices.
The Board also regularly reviews and approves other reports related to the Agency’s overall performance, including the Departmental Results Report (DRR) and Financial Statements. In addition, the Board reviews the annual Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s Management Accountability Framework (MAF) results which assesses management practices and performance in federal departments and agencies.
