This will confirm our recent discussion concerning the visit to this Department by 19(1)

For your information please find a copy of 19(1) letter which sets our his interests. The following is a tentative schedule proposed for his visit:

Monday, October 23

          9:30 -    Meets with C. Savage, A/Director
                    Provincial & International Relations
                    Division

         10:30 -    Meets with B. Bryson, Director
                    Current Amendments and Regulation Division to
                    discuss simplification of the tax system with
                    emphasis on reducing compliance costs for
                    small business taxpayers.

         12:00 -    Lunch (C. Savage)

          1:30 -    Meets with S.M. Turner to discuss initiatives
                    in Taxpayer Services.  This is to be
                    co-ordinates with Source Deductions Division
                    to Include the simplification topic.

Tuesday, October 24

          9:30 -    Meet with Pierre Middlestead, Director of
                    Ottawa District Office to look at Taxpayer
                    Service policies in practice.

         12:00 -    Lunch (P. Middlestead)

                    Free Time

Wednesday and Thursday, October 25 and 26

                    Meets with Mr. Michael Burpee of Customs and
                    Excise to discuss the Goods and Service Tax.
