I am writing in response to your various letters to the Department regarding a remission of taxes in respect of assistance provided by XXXXXXXXXX to its employees to assist in repairing damages resulting from the ice storm of January 1998.
I am pleased to inform you that Order in Council P.C. 1998-2047 was issued by His Excellency, the Governor General in Council, authorizing the remission of federal income taxes in respect of the deemed income on these loans. A copy of the Order in Council is enclosed for your information.
