This is in reply to your letter dated October 9, 1997 in which you requested our views with respect to the tax consequences to an assignee of a partnership interest.
As discussed during a telephone conversation with Marc Vanasse of this Directorate, the position to be taken in the present situtation is still under review. We have asked the departments of Finance and Justice for their views on this matter. We will respond to you as soon as the study is completed.
