[1]        This is an appeal from a decision of a Citizenship Judge dated August 22, 1997 wherein the Judge did not approve the citizenship application.

[2]        The grounds of the Citizenship Judge’s decision were that the applicant did not have an adequate knowledge of Canada and of the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.

[3]        The present hearing is a trial de novo.

[4]        The applicant appeared at the hearing on January 22, 1999 and has demonstrated that she has an adequate knowledge of Canada and of the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.

[5]        The present appeal is allowed.
