My benefits and credits

Every dollar counts! Benefits and credits can help. Find out if you qualify.

Canada child benefit

If you are a parent, like Henry, you know how expenses add up. The Canada child benefit (CCB) can help.

Families can get up to $6,639 for each child under 6 and up to $5,602 for each child aged 6 to 17 for the July 2019 to June 2020 benefit year.

The CCB is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children.

GST/HST credit

Shazeal found that the GST/HST credit helped with the expenses she had as a student. Depending on your situation, it could help you too.

Single individuals can get up to $443 for the July 2019 to June 2020 benefit year. A couple with two children can receive up to $886.

The credit is a tax-free quarterly payment that helps individuals and families with low and modest incomes offset the GST/HST they pay.

Canada workers benefit

Having to change from a job he’d groomed himself for his whole life was an incredible shock for David. The Canada workers benefit (CWB) helped him with the transition as it’s intended to supplement the earnings of low income workers. The 2018 federal budget introduced the CWB to strengthen and replace the working income tax benefit (WITB). Low-income workers may be eligible for the CWB when filing their 2019 tax returns.

New changes to the CWB

If for some reason David did not claim the CWB, the CRA will use the information provided in his income tax and benefit return to determine David’s eligibility. By completing the Schedule 6 (the form required to calculate the CWB), David will ensure that the CRA has the required information to make the eligibility determination.

If David is looking for the CWB 2020 advance payments, he can easily apply for it through My Account.
